Loss in Minnesota ends the record streak

St. Louis City's unbeaten streak in MLS, which had equaled the league record, ended on Saturday with a 2:3 loss to Minnesota United. Canadian Marcus Caldeira scored the winning goal in the 86th minute after Minnesota came back from trailing following quick goals by Brazilian forward Rafael Navarro in the 4th minute and South Korean winger Jeong Sang-bin in the 10th. Aziz Jackson reduced the deficit in the 49th minute, and Kelvin Yeboah equalized in the 68th.

A missed chance to break the league record

St. Louis City, which had already secured its first playoff berth since 2023, missed the opportunity to break the MLS record for an unbeaten streak outright, a record it now shares with Columbus, Dallas and Inter Miami. In addition, the club ended its MLS-record streak of 21 matches without defeat in all competitions. The team's record stands at 14 wins, 7 losses and 9 draws; before that it had not lost in MLS since May 3, when it fell 0:2 away to Austin, having earned 13 wins and 6 draws.

Philadelphia keeps its streak going

Philadelphia Union (13 wins, 10 losses, 7 draws), after a home 2:2 draw with Charlotte, extended its unbeaten streak in MLS to 15 matches. Before that, the club had won eight straight matches. Its last defeat was a 4:6 loss to Inter Miami on May 24; since then the team has won 12 times and drawn three times, earning 39 points out of a possible 45 since Ryan Richter took over as interim head coach during the league's pause for the World Cup.

How the Charlotte match unfolded

Milan Iloski opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 24th minute, striking with his right foot into the bottom left corner. Beninese forward Rodolfo Aloko equalized in the 48th minute with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner, and in the 64th Israeli forward Idan Toklomati put Charlotte ahead with a header. Uruguayan Bruno Damiani restored parity in the 73rd minute, scoring from the center of the penalty area.
