The President visited the renovated pilgrimage complex
According to Kun.uz, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the reconstructed and landscaped memorial complex on the territory of the Chokardiza cemetery, where the mausoleum of Abu Mansur Moturudi is located. The reconstruction began after last year the 1155th anniversary of the thinker's birth was widely celebrated in the country — in accordance with the decision of the head of state.
What was built in the complex
On the territory covering 10.2 hectares, a new mosque was built for pilgrims. The mausoleums of Imam Moturudi and Burhaniddin Marghinani were fully reconstructed. As part of the complex, a scientific center was created for the in-depth study of the scholar's legacy, as well as a library and a museum. A ceremonial arch (peshtak) was erected at the entrance, and guest houses and a parking lot were built for visitors. Local trees and shrubs brought from abroad, suitable for the country's climate, were planted on the territory. In memory of the scholars, the Quran was recited.
Statements by the President
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of the complex's scientific institutions. According to him, the purpose of their creation is the in-depth study of the ancestors' legacy and passing it on to the youth. «A thousand years ago, Moturudi substantiated every question with profound science and clear arguments, warning people against ignorance,» the publication quotes the President as saying. He added that studying these works and conveying their meaning to the youth is more important today than ever. The President also noted that visitors should not only perform pilgrimage (ziyorat) but also gain knowledge, and that a person arriving there should get an idea of the scientific and spiritual legacy of Imam Moturudi and his place in the Islamic world.
