Viral hit and unexpected collaboration
Jamie Miller, from the Pontprennau area of Cardiff, told BBC Wales that collaborating with Amazon Prime Video series 'Off Campus' star Antonio Cipriano was 'mind-blowing' for him. It all started with a comment from Cipriano under the viral song Babydoll — the actor wrote that he 'needed this song'. Miller sent him a message offering to record a joint version, but immediately 'panicked' and added 'ha-ha, just kidding'. Cipriano replied: 'If you're not actually joking, I would be honoured.' Miller had long been a fan of the actor's voice. Cipriano flew to Los Angeles, where the singer now lives, and they recorded Babydoll on the day of their first meeting.
Success of the song and the series
In the summer of 2026, Babydoll went viral on social media thanks to a dance, became Miller's first top-10 single in the UK chart and topped the iTunes pop chart in the US. On Friday, the original version of the song rose from third to second place in the official UK chart, behind only Taylor Swift's Patient Zero. The series 'Off Campus', an adaptation of Elle Kennedy's book series about romance in a hockey team, became the third most-watched series launch in Prime Video history and raised the profile of many artists through its soundtrack. Miller said he would be glad to appear in the series 'in any capacity': 'We'll see.' Cipriano plays John Logan, the best friend of the main character Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli).
Joint concerts with the Jonas Brothers
Miller recently supported The Jonas Brothers on the American leg of their tour and appeared on stage with Cipriano as a guest star. 'It was his first arena stadium and my first — and it's the most amazing situation because we can lean on each other,' the singer said. According to him, introducing Cipriano to the audience 'gave him goosebumps', as both of their dreams are coming true. Backstage they told each other: 'we're so lucky, our lives are not normal, we're going out to play for 20,000 people.'
'Last chance' and accusations of being an 'industry plant'
At 19, Miller took part in The Voice UK, finishing third in Jennifer Hudson's team. His love of music began by accident — with a school play in primary school: 'If you passed the audition, you could skip maths.' Now the 29-year-old artist admits that the last couple of years were 'very hard': changes in the industry and his personal life left him lost. 'Going into this year, I had built a career on sad music, and I'm not sad anymore, I'm happy,' he said. He called 2026 his 'last chance' to break through: financially he was 'on his last breath'. The rapid success led to accusations that he was an 'industry plant'. 'I wish I were an industry plant — I've been doing this for nine years,' he replied with a laugh, adding that he never planned a social media campaign and everything happened 'in the most organic way'.
