Test squad: Pant with a condition, Bumrah included
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced the national team's squads for the tour of New Zealand. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was included in the 16-member Test squad, but his participation is marked with the caveat 'subject to fitness clearance': the left-handed batter is recovering from a left-side strain and, because of this injury, will miss the first two unofficial Tests for India A in New Zealand at the end of this month. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has also been included in the Test squad under captain Shubman Gill; the series will open with a match in Wellington on 19 November.
ODIs: captaincy rotation and veterans in all matches
For the five one-day internationals, Bumrah is not named. Shubman Gill will captain the first three ODIs, starting with the game in Auckland on 4 November, while vice-captain Shreyas Iyer will lead the side in the fourth and fifth matches. Gill and KL Rahul are not included in the squads for the fourth and fifth matches. Veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are named for all five 50-over games.
