Context of the conflict
Yemen's government forces earlier this month launched the 'Dawn of Yemen' offensive aimed at retaking territories controlled by the Houthis, including the capital Sanaa. The conflict has continued since 2014, when the Houthis seized Sanaa and a number of provinces, which led to the intervention of the Saudi Arabia-led coalition on the side of the internationally recognized government. According to the outlet, the current fighting began in July after the collapse of the 2022 truce. The Houthis have also attacked energy and aviation facilities in Saudi Arabia.
