Statement by the Ministry of Economy and Finance
Gas for injection into underground gas storage facilities (UGS) in Uzbekistan is being supplied daily on schedule. This was announced on October 14 at a press conference dedicated to the energy tariff reform by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Khurshid Mustafayev, who oversees the oil and gas sector. “Every year we develop fuel and energy balances. As of today, up until October 25, gas for injection into UGS is being supplied daily on schedule, and there are absolutely no problems with this,” Spot.uz quoted him as saying.
Plans for the winter season
In December 2025, former Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov reported that 25.4 billion cubic meters of gas is planned to be supplied to consumers during the autumn-winter period of 2025—2026. According to him, both major underground storage systems — “Gazli” and “Khojaabad” — were operating steadily, providing withdrawal of up to 42 million cubic meters per day. At that time, it was also planned to send 1.2 billion cubic meters more gas from the storage facilities for domestic consumption than the previous winter.
Reserve data not disclosed
As Gazeta.uz writes, current data on gas volumes in underground storage facilities, as well as injection and withdrawal figures, are not publicly disclosed. It was previously reported that in October 2024, more than 5.1 billion cubic meters of gas had been accumulated in UGS ahead of the winter season — 1.1 billion cubic meters more than in 2023. Spot also previously reported that the gas pipeline explosion in Russia did not affect gas supplies to Uzbekistan.
