MOSCOW, October 14. INTERFAX.RU - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, at a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, stated that the strategic partnership between Moscow and Beijing plays an important stabilizing role.

"On the international stage, the strategic partnership between Moscow and Beijing plays an important stabilizing role. Our positions on most regional and international issues coincide or are very close," he said, opening the meeting.

"Finally, our participation as permanent members of the UN Security Council plays a crucial role. And, of course, the SCO, BRICS, APEC, the G20," he added.

In addition, Lavrov expressed hope that this year the record in trade turnover with China would be broken.

"In the first eight months of this year, we have a 25% increase in trade turnover (with China). And this year, practically without a doubt, another record of our trade exchange will be broken," the minister said.

He emphasized that economic interaction between the two countries is developing well.

Wang Yi, for his part, congratulated Lavrov on the State Duma elections held in September, giving their results a high assessment. "The State Duma elections are an important event, I congratulate you," he said.
