Route launch and timetable

Berlin-based company Nox Mobility has announced that its first night train will connect Hamburg and Munich from 23 March 2027. The service will run three times a week in each direction with stops in Bremen and Augsburg. Southbound trains will depart Hamburg at 21:22, arriving in Bremen at 22:30 and in Augsburg at 7:35, and in Munich at 8:14. In the opposite direction, departure from Munich is scheduled for 21:20, with stops in Augsburg at 21:51 and Bremen at 7:20; arrival in Hamburg is expected at 8:27. One-way ticket prices start from 65 euros.

What passengers will be offered

Passengers will travel in individual Nox Suites modules, each of which features a wide seat, a table for working or eating, space for large luggage and power sockets. At night, the seat reclines into a lounge position, providing up to two metres of space to stretch out by the window.

Phased launch instead of original plans

Travellers counting on fully enclosed compartments from Nox's original plans will have to wait: the Nox Rooms modules, designed for one to two people, are planned to enter service from 2029. As Euronews Travel reported in June 2025, the company originally intended to launch the service in 2027 with private sleeping compartments right away; the latest announcement describes a phased launch beginning with versions based on reclining seats.

Company plans and founders' position

Nox Mobility positions the new generation of night trains as 'the most obvious alternative' to short-haul flights and previously stated that it plans to establish connections between 100 European cities by 2035. The planned network will include Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Budapest and Rome. Company co-founder Thibault Constant said: 'With Nox, every passenger has their own space for work and rest. A night on a Nox train should, in the long run, combine everything that previously required three separate bookings: the journey, the overnight stay and the morning upon arrival.'
