Apple's First Smart Home Device

Apple unveiled HomeView — its first device for controlling the smart home, which had been the subject of numerous rumors since 2021. The gadget is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen, an A18 processor, and a camera for FaceTime video calls. Its foundation is the updated voice assistant Siri AI and a face recognition feature that launches a personalized interface for each family member: after identification, the device shows personal messages, calendar, reminders, and individual home settings.

Control Hub and Accessories

The main task of HomeView is to serve as a control center for all devices in the home. For this purpose, Apple, together with LG and Schneider Electric, released a line of accessories: security cameras, thermostats, and smart locks. Through HomeView, you can make FaceTime calls and listen to music on AirPlay-enabled speakers. The device can be placed on a table or mounted on a wall; it has no built-in battery, so it requires connection to a power outlet. The bottom of the enclosure houses two full-range drivers that optimize sound in real time.

Sales and Other New Products

Pre-orders for HomeView are already open, and official sales will begin on November 13. In the US, the device will cost $299 (about 3.5 million sums). Since Siri AI is not yet available in iOS, the new product will not be sold in Europe for the time being. At the same time, Apple showed the new Apple TV 4K set-top box based on the A19 chip, the HomePod mini 2 speaker, and Apple Home Collection accessories — all of them support the updated Siri AI.
