A walkway along the gold market
In Dubai's Dubai Gold District, an unusual pedestrian walkway is planned to open by the end of the year, allowing residents and tourists to stroll along the 'gold market'. This was announced by the district's senior director Rashid Al Hamadi in an interview with the publication Emarat Al Youm; Kun.uz cites his remarks. The facility is scheduled to open within the next two months.
Project goals and an exhibition complex
The initiative aims to attract more visitors to the trading district and to strengthen Dubai's position as a centre of tourism and global gold trade. However, the announcement does not specify the exact length of the walkway, the amount of gold to be used in it, or details of its construction.
Infrastructure expansion
Al Hamadi also announced plans to build a new exhibition complex in the trading district, which is expected to become the largest exhibition venue in the Middle East for gold and jewellery trade. The infrastructure of Dubai Gold District is currently expanding: growing demand has been noted from gold mining and jewellery companies wishing to open their branches there. According to Al Hamadi's forecast, by 2027 the number of companies relocating their operations to the district may grow by 10–20%; the expansion also includes plans to create new offices and retail spaces.
