The incident at Pakhtakor and the official explanation
Social media spread reports about passenger crowding at the Pakhtakor metro station in Tashkent. JSC 'Tashkent Metro' issued an official statement on the matter. According to the administration, the incident occurred on October 20 at approximately 17:43. The cause of the temporary increase in passenger flow was the simultaneous arrival of two trains at the station. The metro emphasized that such situations are a natural phenomenon that periodically occurs during rush hours with high passenger traffic intensity, and are short-lived — as a rule, the flow normalizes within a few minutes.
Reduction of train intervals
Since the daily passenger traffic of the Tashkent Metro exceeds 1.2 million people, measures are being taken to reduce train intervals in order to decrease crowding at stations and improve passenger comfort. The planned intervals are: on the Chilonzor line — 1.5–2 minutes, on the Uzbekistan line — up to 3 minutes, on the Yunusabad line — up to 4 minutes, and on the surface ring route line — 7–8 minutes.
