The key facts

  • MSU Law Faculty switched to remote learning from October 21 to November 3 due to a measles case
  • According to students, the reason was a medical certificate from a master's student confirming an infectious disease
  • This is not the first such case at MSU: the CMC faculty in May 2026, the Chemistry Faculty in October 2025, the Law Faculty in December 2023

Quarantine at MSU Law Faculty

A quarantine has been introduced at the Law Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University due to a detected case of measles. Students are being switched to remote learning from October 21 to November 3. The university administration confirmed the information about the restrictions to the Mash outlet. According to students, the reason was a medical certificate brought by one of the master's students: the document confirmed that he had an infectious disease. The restrictions are being introduced to prevent further spread of measles — an infection characterized by high contagiousness, in which the absence of immunity increases the risk of infection upon contact with a sick person.

This Is Not the First Such Case at MSU

In May 2026, due to measles in an employee of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, one of the MSU buildings was switched to remote learning. At that time, Rospotrebnadzor launched an epidemiological investigation, identified the circle of contact persons, and organized emergency vaccination. In October 2025, similar measures were introduced at the Chemistry Faculty, where the infection was detected in a first-year student; more than 1,800 people had contact with him. For the Law Faculty, this is also not the first such case: in December 2023, it already went into quarantine due to a student who fell ill with measles; at that time, the restrictions also affected the Higher School of State Audit.
