Carapaz changes teams
Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz, 33, has signed a two-year contract with the Swiss team NSN Cycling, which previously competed under the name Israel-Premier Tech. The team announced this on Friday. Since 2023, Carapaz had been riding for the American team EF Education.
The rider's achievements
Carapaz is the winner of the 2019 Giro d'Italia general classification and the Tokyo Olympic champion in the road race. In 2020, he finished second at the Vuelta a Espana. He has ten stage victories across the three Grand Tours, the last two coming at the 2026 Tour de France at Orcieres-Merlette and Alpe d'Huez. At the end of that race, he became the best climber, finishing in the polka-dot jersey.
Reaction from both sides
NSN Cycling manager Kjell Carlstrom called the signing of Carapaz a significant moment for the team and an important milestone in the development of the sporting project: 'Richard is a proven champion. His achievements speak for themselves.' The rider himself noted that this is a great opportunity for him to become one of the team's leaders, and that he is looking forward to getting started.
