Dry weather and dust accumulation
According to Uzhydromet, September of this year turned out to be extremely dry. Since the beginning of October, 11 mm of precipitation fell in Tashkent, compared to the monthly average norm of 24 mm. Against the backdrop of a lack of precipitation, the Tashkent khokimiyat announced the need to carry out work to clean green plantings from dust in order to reduce the consequences of dust accumulation.
Washing trees with special equipment
At present, with the help of special equipment, water is being sprayed, which makes it possible to gently wash tree crowns, clean foliage from settled dust, and additionally moisten individual areas of the urban environment.
Position of the khokimiyat
“Of course, these measures cannot replace natural precipitation or completely solve the problem of dust accumulation. However, even such, at first glance, small efforts contribute to maintaining a favorable microclimate and creating more comfortable conditions for residents,” the capital administration noted. They added that work on improving the environmental situation, preserving green plantings, and creating comfortable conditions for residents will continue.
Past experience
Similar street watering events were carried out in Tashkent in November last year. At that time, fountains were also turned on across the city — this was part of a comprehensive approach to reducing air pollution.
