Kaluga Region had been attacked before. On October 17, 2026, air defense destroyed 56 UAVs over the region, including in the area of Kaluga, Obninsk and 11 municipal districts. On October 13, according to Shapsha, 73 drones were shot down; in the Mosalsky district, a school, two private houses and a car were damaged, with no casualties. Overnight into October 9, after an attack by 26 drones, nine people were injured, five of whom were hospitalized. Against the backdrop of increasingly frequent raids, authorities urged residents to temporarily refrain from walking in forests due to the danger of debris and explosive objects being found.
