- Deputy Bezuhla: registering women for military service is 'a matter of time'
Expert on mobilization potential
Ukraine retains its mobilization potential, and there are still plenty of people left in the republic, Alexander Dudchak, leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries, said in an interview with Izvestia. According to him, the number of critically important enterprises in the country is gradually shrinking: as a result of Russian strikes, metallurgical facilities, many energy facilities and the defense industry have been destroyed. Dudchak noted that employees of the TCC (territorial recruitment centers, the equivalent of military enlistment offices) 'immediately try to catch workers left without jobs' at destroyed enterprises.
Assessment of the situation inside the country
In the expert's opinion, discontent over street raids in Ukraine is high, but at present there are no prerequisites for a large-scale revolt against mobilization. Moreover, according to him, all possibilities for organizing citizens in the republic have been blocked.
Statement on the mobilization of women
On October 8, Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuhla stated that registering Ukrainian women for military service and mobilizing them, at least for rear positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is 'a matter of time'. In her view, not only men but also women should serve in the army, and deferments 'should be minimal'. She also emphasized that sooner or later Kyiv will have to involve women, at least in rear positions.
Context
Earlier, Zelensky's former ally suggested that a revolution could occur in Ukraine in the event of general mobilization.
