The key facts

What happened
Actress Lyubov Tolkalina reported on Instagram (whose owner company Meta has been designated extremist and banned in Russia) that her room at a hotel inside Kruger National Park in South Africa was wrecked by baboons. According to her, before going out she latched the windows shut but forgot to draw the curtains. The monkeys noticed this, opened the window, and got inside. Tolkalina showed footage of the wreckage and was relieved that her documents remained intact.
How the actress described the incident
“Presenting to you: baboons… Ladies and gentlemen. Well. This is Africa, baby. They stole an apple, gorged on soap and pills, chewed on the portion-packed cream along with the plastic, and tried to open a bottle of gin with their teeth. Adorable!” the actress said. She called what happened “a monkey fairy-tale outrage” and admitted she knew wild animals could get into the room but had not expected such a situation. Actress Elena Valyushkina commented on the post: “God, I thought people had robbed you!” Tolkalina jokingly replied: “It was their nephews.”
Meeting the baboons
Later the actress managed to see the baboons with her own eyes. “So sweet, with long tails, tiny. With babies! They scattered peas. Some real organized crime gang is operating here. They walk on the roof — tap-tap-tap. I even shut the door and locked myself in. They're small. I don't understand how they even managed to open my suitcase!” she noted.
Impressions of the trip
Tolkalina also shared her impressions of the safari: she had long dreamed of seeing wild animals in their natural habitat and was delighted with the trip. Earlier, the actress showed what she looks like without makeup and filters at 48.
