The key facts

  • The station in Fergana was installed on October 15, and installation work in Samarkand was completed on October 9
  • NO2, SO2, CO, ozone, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, PM2.5 and PM10 are measured, as well as temperature, humidity, pressure and wind
  • Data is automatically fed into the unified geoinformation database of the environmental monitoring system

Monitoring stations at two airports

Uzbekistan Airports announced the installation of automatic ambient air quality monitoring stations near the Fergana and Samarkand airports. According to the company, the station in Fergana was installed on October 15, and the installation and commissioning of equipment in Samarkand was completed on October 9. In the future, similar stations are planned to be placed near other airports in the country.

What the stations measure

The equipment is placed in airport sanitary protection zones. It measures concentrations of nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, ammonia and hydrogen sulfide, as well as fine particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10. At the same time, the stations record air temperature and humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed and direction.

Data transmission and project goals

The measurement results are automatically transmitted to the unified geoinformation database of the environmental monitoring system. According to the company, these data are used to track changes in air quality near airports, assess the environmental situation and take necessary measures. The project is being implemented in cooperation with Malkam Environmental Technologies.
